Arriving at Highclere Castle

We were very fortunate that the rains held and we had a marvelous day at Highclere Castle.
Highclere is owned by the 8th Earl & Countess of Carnarvon and has been in their family since 1679.

We couldn't take photos inside the house, so I found a few online that show rooms we walked through. We were able to go through 'the house' at our leisure. It contained amazing art masterpieces from hundreds of years ago... portraits & landscapes in every room.

Marg, it must have killed you not to take inside photos! These are magnificent though. What a treat to be able to tour this castle!

Wow this is a highlight of the trip. Karen G., what a lucky break to get a ticket....Imagine the wealth that allowed this all to be purchased and saved over the years. Landed gentry indeed!!!
