British Antique Road Show in Bristol

Ashton Court Estate played host today to the British Antique Road Show. It is located near Bristol, a large city built around the River Avon. Bristol is located along a short coastline on the Severn Estuary which flows into the Bristol Channel. Our GPS took up right through the centre of this very busy city with endless roundabouts. We were relieved when we arrived at the beautiful estate... with the sun shining.

Here is Fiona Bruce, a well known BBC personality. Those of us who watch the British Antique Road Show know that she introduces each show, providing background information on the history of the chosen location. She then hosts the show, acting as the main presenter.

Hilary Kay is one of our favourite appraisers on the show. We were fortunate enough to be 'right there' when it came time for her to film an interesting model and a painting that were brought to the show. The model shows the famous suspension bridge designed by the great engineer, Brunel. Work began in 1831 on the Clifton Susension Bridge. It is set on the cliffs of the Avon Gorge and is a defining symbol of Bristol.
These 2 items interested Hilary Kay and so she spent quite a long time discussing this topic. For absolutely sure, this will make it onto a road show and we might be in it too.

It was a very busy place today!
