Yesterday afternoon we were greeted warmly by our house exchangers, Bronda & Rod who met us at the train station in Andover. We were late departing York due to train delays, so missed our connection in London. My goodness... London has a well used underground. Thanks to helpful young men along the way, our suitcases were carried up & down many staircases as we maneuvered through a maze of connecting tunnels & tubes from Kings Cross to Waterloo station. We missed one more train to Andover and were relieved when Rod & Bronda greeted us as we finally bumped & rolled onto the platform. I'm sure they were happy to connect as well and must have wondered how many trips they'd be making to the train station.
Their home is lovely and we will be more than comfortable here. They are meticulous house keepers... house, yard, & garden are in tip top shape. We are so fortunate to have this exchange and are very happy to be here. The garden area is bright and has a lovely sitting area where we enjoyed breakfast this morning. Afterwards, we had our 2nd game of 'Hand & Foot' since leaving Victoria.
We've done 2 loads of wash and have all hung outside to dry. How good is this!
Last evening they ordered in Chinese food which we greatly enjoyed as we sat in the dining room getting to know one another. They are a delightful couple who obviously enjoy their life together. A prepared binder, containing all sorts of interesting & valuable information, was put together for us. It will be extremely helpful.
Let me say: this is a well equipped house containing everything we will ever need... and more probably. I've already fallen in love with their colorful clothes pegs. Wonder if we have room to bring a package home?
We hope that Bronda & Rod are enjoying a pleasant flight to Vancouver & will, in a few hours, have a scenic ferry ride to the Island. Marilyn will meet them and help them get settled into our house. Sandy & I send our thanks to Marilyn, Glen, & Karen for all the support they are giving to us.
